Congratulations to Octavio Arizmendi EchegarayCongratulations to Octavio Arizmendi Echegaray on receiving the Sotero Prieto Award! This prize is awarded annually by the Mexican Mathematical Society for the best bachelor's thesis in mathematics. Octavio's winning thesis entitled 'Free Infinite Divisibility of Probability Measures' was directed by Dr. Victor Perez Abreu of the Research Center of Mathematics (CIMAT) Guanajuato, Mexico. The award was presented to Octavio on October 12th at the XLII Congress of the Mexican Mathematical Society in Zacatecas, Mexico. Octavio joined our master's program in September 2009 to work under the supervision of Roland Speicher. |

NEW Collaborative Master's program in BiostatisticsThe new collaborative Master of Science in Biostatistics (MBS) is offered jointly by the Departments of Community Health and Epidemiology and Mathematics and Statistics at Queen's University, Kingston, Ontario. It is a one year intensive program that gives students a foundation in the theory and applications of the broad field of Biostatistics. The program will start in Fall of 2009. |
