What hardware capacities are available?
The new SunBlade 2000 systems, those with enormous screens, have about 100G of available fast-access disk space. If your computations require big and fast data storage, ask system manager for a slice.
All Sun computers have an embedded PC. type:
% sunpcTo start a Windows XP session. Please do not forget to Turn Off the embedded PC before logging out.
How to read and send email?
Please log on to mast.queensu.ca, e.g.
% ssh <user>@mast.queensu.caRun Pine, or open a web browser and go to https://www.mast.queensu.ca/mail/
How to print?
All computers, including Windows XP on embedded PCs, have been configured for printing. The default printer was set to laser220. Most applications have a Print button or menu item. To print a postscript file, type:
% lpr file.psHow to get help?
Please get paper for the printer at the main office, and let them know if the cartridge needs replacement. Please email the computer team at mastop@mast.queensu.ca for any furthur support.
