I am a member of the LTE Communication Systems team at Research In Motion (RIM) in Ottawa, Ontario. RIM's most famous product is called Blackberry. My work is mostly focused on MAC and PHY design, analysis, and modeling for LTE systems. LTE is based on 3GPP technical specifications '36' series.
From 2006 to 2009, I was a Systems Designer with Nortel Networks in Ottawa and was involved in MAC and PHY design for WiMAX and LTE systems. WiMAX is based on IEEE 802.16 standard series.
Before joining Nortel, I held a Post-Doctoral Fellowship (PDF) position which was awarded to me by the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council (NSERC) of the Government of Canada. I was also awarded an NSERC Industrial Research and Development Fellowship (IRDF) award.
I received my B.Sc. (in electrical engineering, electronics) and M.Sc. (in electrical engineering, communications) both from the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Isfahan University of Technology, Isfahan, Iran. I did my Ph.D. studies in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering of Queen's University under the supervision of Professor Fady Alajaji and Professor Tamas Linder.

Professional Interests
My professional interests are in the area of digital communications and networks, with an emphasis on wireless applications. More specifically, my work is in the following areas:
Wireless Communication Networks
Development and optimization of algorithms for layer 2 (MAC and radio resource management/control) in wireless networks
Efficient DSP algorithms for the PHY layer of wireless networks
Signal Processing and Analysis of Communication Systems
Advanced multi-antenna techniques for wireless systems
Advanced techniques in wideband multiple-access scenarios, such as OFDMA
Multimedia Processing and Communications
Quantization schemes (including multiple description and channel-optimized scalar/vector quantization)
Implementation of embedded and scalable audio, image, and video compression methods
Compression methods and standards (such as arithmetic coding, JPEG)

I come from Isfahan, a beautiful and historical city in central Iran. There are plentiful historical sites in Isfahan. Naghsh-e-Jahan square in city center is recognized by UNESCO as a world heritage. Isfahan is also an industrial centre.
My favourite sports are soccer (I often play as the goalie), badminton, swimming, and curling.
