Course description: Vector spaces, direct sums, linear transformations, eigenvalues, eigenvectors, inner product spaces, self-adjoint operators, positive operators, singular-value decomposition, minimal polynomials, Jordan canonical form.

Textbook: Linear Algebra Done Right by Sheldon Axler, Third Edition, Springer Undergraduate Texts in Mathematics, 2015, ISBN 978-3-319-11079-0.

Prerequisites and Exclusions:
MATH 212:
Prerequisites: MATH 111 or 112 or MTHE 217.
Exclusion: MATH 110.
MTHE 212:
Prerequisites: APSC 174 and must be registered in a BSCE or BASC academic program.
Exclusion: MTHE 312 (MATH 312).

Monday: 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.
Wednesday: 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m.
Friday: 11:30 p.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Test: There will be a two hour midterm on Wednesday, February 14. Tentative time and venue: 7-9 p.m. in Dupuis Auditorium. (confirmation awaited for room booking)
