Mathematics 411

The textbook is Introduction to Homological Algebra by Charles Weibel. The following notes by Tony Geramita for his Fall 1994 course on Homological Algebra may be helpful, expecially for the early part of the course:

Part 1 dvi Part 1 ps
Part 2 dvi Part 2 ps
Part 3 dvi Part 3 ps

Some of the material for the last few lectures came from Tony's pragmatic notes. Note especially pages 8 and 13-14 of pragmatic 2 and pages 1-3 of pragmatic 3. These can be downloaded below in case you do not have a copy. For some unknown reason the dvi file of pragmatic 1 does not work with some of my dvi viewers so I have included also the postscript file for this part of the notes.

Part 1 dvi Part 1 ps
Part 2 dvi
Part 3 dvi

My original advertisement for the course, giving some motivation, can be downloaded below.

TeXing commutative diagrams

I have found the xypic package convenient for TeXing commutative diagrams. The examples and a bit of experimenting will suffice for most diagrams. The manual can be consulted for other possibilities.
