|| The final exam is on Friday, April 21, from 7pm to 10pm. The
material for the final exam consists of everything covered in the
lectures (this may include material that does not appear on the
lecture slides). The exam is closed book. The exam paper will
contain a formula sheet and a table of values for the distribution
function of the standard normal random variable. You are allowed to
bring one 8.5 by 11 inch sheet of notes (you may use both sides and
your notes need not be handwritten) and a simple nonprogrammable
calculator. The instructions for the exam will be exactly the same
as on the 2016 final exam.

|| The midterm is next Friday, Feb. 17, in class. Please arrive
early enough so that you can start writing the exam at 9:25 am. You
may bring one 8.5 by 11 inch sheet of notes, written on both sides,
and a non-progammable calculator. The midterm covers all the
material from class up to and including the multinomial, gamma, and
beta distributions (homeworks 1 to 3, lecture slides parts
1-3). There are 3 questions, each worth 10 marks. The instructions
