Suggested Course Materials
USB Flash Drive- These can be
purchased at the Queen's Computer
store. 1G is more than enough for this course.
R - may be freely downloaded and installed.
SAS - is available
through
Queens for $100 a copy. SAS is freely available on all 1st floor
Jeffrey computers, but if you don't want to spend many hours in the
basement of Jeffrey you may wish to purchase a personal copy. Be aware
that SAS does not run on Macs.
The
Little SAS Book: A Primer, Fourth Edition -
Although abundant SAS language reference
materials are available on-line, most of these require enough SAS
knowledge so that you know what you are looking for and conceptually
understand what you are trying to do. The Little SAS Book can serve as
a compliment to the course lecture notes which start at ground zero for
new users of SAS. This book provides friendly easy to read explanations
and examples of many of the concepts and techniques that will be
learned in STAT462/862. The book doesn't cover all the course material
and includes a lot of material not be covered in class, but
it is the closest match for this course and best selection of
introductory SAS topics that I am aware of. An electronic
version of the book is accessible through Queen's
subscription to Books24X7 or a hard copy can be ordered from
Amazon.com or elsewhere.
